Through the voices of America’s last WWII veterans, this documentary recounts America’s journey from the Great Depression to today—its wars, ideals, and enduring fight to preserve and pass on freedom.

America at 250: Through the Eyes of Our Heroes is an epic documentary journey through the nation’s birth, struggles, triumphs, and evolving ideals — told through the eyes of the few remaining WWII veterans, now 100 years old. These men and women, who faced the fires of history’s largest conflict, reflect on what America means to them in its 250th year, and on the freedoms, they fought to preserve not only for their own country, but for oppressed peoples around the globe.
Through intimate interviews, we hear their voices — sometimes frail but filled with conviction — recalling their youth in the Great Depression, the shock of Pearl Harbor, the grit of Normandy, the war-torn seas of the Pacific, and the day the war ended. They speak of the America they returned to, the one they built, and the one they hope to see continue.
Interwoven with archival footage, sweeping visuals of America’s landscapes, and milestones from 1776 to today, their testimonies connect past and present. This is not just history told in dates and battles — it’s history told through living memory, a reminder that freedom is earned, guarded, and passed on.
By the closing frames, their words form a collective message to the next generation: “The dream is yours now. Keep it.”

What a beautiful, well made documentary. What a blessing on our nation’s 250th birthday!
I am totally impressed that Victor David Hanson is on it. He is my favorite historian and podcaster.
God bless these humble heroes.
The film was just so excellent. Our family will be watching it every July 4th from now on.
I was impressed by the interviews of the Veterans, especially the one who was so open about his faith. It really touched my heart when he was in the dungeon and the Lord encouraged him.
I liked the way they brought in the Revolutionary and Civil Wars as part of the 250 years effort to protect freedom…we need to be reminded …so many lives lost.
The film was so organize. It kept my attention throughout. I was never bored.
I still have memories of my parents talking about the Great Depression and WWII. It brought back all those memories.
What a quality film. As I said, we will watch it every year.
The film was so well done.
Wow! It was so moving to hear the first-hand stories of the WWII Veterans. It made me appreciate the sacrifices they made, and reminded me how important it is to preserve their stories.
Thank you for making this movie.
This is the most worthwhile hour and 20 minutes you will ever spend watching a film.
How Doug was able to extract so much truth, beauty, and goodness out of such a tragedy is a real miracle. When you are watching it, you quickly see yourself in this story and that it has not ended. How is it just as relevant today as it was a generation ago? It is the greatest story ever told, and we are still living it right now. It is up to this generation now how this chapter ends and whether the book itself ends or continues.
It is the most exceptional story, depicting an exceptional generation, from an exceptional country.
This is the greatest history lesson of all time. I learned so much I did not know or understand. As Mr. Renaud says it is socialism, and communism vs. democracy and Islam vs. Christianity all rolled into one, and every nation on earth is still living this battle more than ever right now and in our near future. We cannot let the evil ones end this chapter, our story.
Doug is anointed to spread the message that this should never ever happen again. First with Mother of Normandy and now this amazing masterpiece. I fell in love with all our beautiful veterans! God bless you all and all those who served and are serving. They gave it all to us, what amazing people, they have so much to teach us. Now what are we going to do with it? All of this cannot be in vain. This is why it is so critical that every man, woman, and child see this film, regardless of where you come from.
Thank you Doug!
Please do your part to share this with everyone you can.
Terrific film! So encouraging…what a lovely and compelling tribute to the heroes of this country.
God bless America, land that I love, as so do the men and women who are in the film. That was evident.
Thanks, Doug. I so appreciate you honoring our veterans.
